Information for incoming students

General info

ART  & DESIGN INSTITUT is the first private college in the Czech Republic, where students can study fine art. Students can choose two of the six creative subjects - Painting, Printmaking/Drawing, Photography, Space/Interior design, Intermedia Studio, Graphic design. This is studied together with six theoretical subjects Art History, Marketing and Trade of Artworks, Museums and Gallery Studies, Philosophy of Artistic Expression, Psychology of Art, Cultural Anthropology and Art. 

The main aim of ADI is to prepare their students - future artists to create valuable artworks as well as to promote employability of graduates.

Foreign students will receive a transcript of their academic results and a final report - for their home institutions, including a full, accurate and timely record of their achievements at the end of their mobility. In the case of a work placement that is not part of the curriculum, there will be written a Diploma Supplement.

Considering the outgoing students, ADI will recognise all ECTS credits. Outgoing students will be obliged to inform about their stay and knowledge of teaching through evaluation sheet, social media or video. Teachers should use their received knowledge during lectures or special workshops.

Teachers will receive a confirmation of the length and results of their mobility.

Everything for the incomers would be free of charge.

Incoming students

If you intend to spend one semester at ART & DESIGN INSTITUT, check if there is an exchange agreement between your university and ART & DESIGN INSTITUT by contacting your home university. If you find such an agreement does not exist, approach your institutional coordinator to take the necessary steps. If you find that the agreement exists, your institution must officially nominate you and inform us of the fact that you want to arrive.

Then, please browse our Course Catalogue to decide which courses you are interested in.
 

Once you have been nominated by your institution and you have chosen your courses, submit the following forms:

You have to also submit the following documents to support your application:

  • Portfolio with artworks (8 - 10 examples in pdf. - maximum size 10 MB)
  • Letter of motivation written in English language.
  • Passport photo. (45x35 mm)

All forms should be sent via email recepce@adi.cz.

We are accepting applications:

  • from 1st June to 20th June for winter semester
  • from 1st October to 20th October for Summer semester

It is only possible to apply for one semester.

Applications sent after the deadline will not be accepted. The result will be sent to the candidate no later than 1 week  after the deadline for registration for Erasmus+ at ART & DESIGN INSTITUT.

When you arrive

When you arrive, please contact school office.You must bring your Letter of Admission and one passport-sized photo with you. We will help you with enrolling to the courses and give you all of the necessary informations what to do immediatelly after your arrivall.

 

Health insurance and medical care

 

Erasmus students need to possess health insurance that is valid in the CR. EU students can use their EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) which entitles them to free emergency healthcare in the ČR.

 

EU students should register their EHIC at a local insurance company immediately on arriving in the Czech Republic. The company will provide the student with a confirmation of registration, which s/he must present whenever s/he needs health care. It is important to contact a medical institution that has a contract with the student’s health insurance company.

Public transport

If you are under 26 you can get a discount on an LÍTAČKA transport pass. You can arrange your travel pass as soon as you arrive in Prague. All you need is confirmation that you are a student (which we will provide for you) and a passport-sized photography. The fee for an LÍTAČKA is 180 CZK.

If you do not have an LÍTAČKA, a ticket costs 24 CZK for 30 minutes or 32 CZK ticket for 90 minutes.

Bank account

We recommend opening a Czech bank account. It is easily arranged and free of charge for students under 26 years of age.

Credit/debit cards are widely accepted in Prague. Shops are marked with the types of credit/debit cards they accept.
